My Media, Our Communication

"Communication is the transmission of emotion," says Seth Godin. Do you think that's true? It is, at least, for me. Communication is extremely adaptable and limitless. It could be anywhere and in any mode of transmission, including media.

Communication can take many forms, including verbal, visual, emotional, and physical actions. And, like communication, media has the ability and power to influence, and it is the best medium we could use in communication because it is very accessible and efficient to communicate these days. The media is also a mass communication enterprise that facilitates communication through the use of tools and mediums such as newspapers, magazines, radio, television, the Internet, and other media channels used to transmit information. Simply put, media is the primary medium through which the vast majority of the general public is reached in the communication process.

A communication media is a medium that is used to transmit information or data from a sender to a receiver and vice versa. A communication medium includes both verbal and nonverbal communication, and even these two types of communication have many variations, such as speeches, presentations, advertisements, writings, personal appearance, body language, and the like. And, with the advancement of technology and the internet, we have become more exposed to various types of communication mediums, not only through telephones, but also through the use of the internet as a medium, such as when creating this blog.

Communication media is very useful and important in transmitting messages and data; without this knowledge and idea, we may be unable to communicate with our loved ones who live a long distance away. This just made me think about how we need to be more aware and responsible when using such communication mediums, especially now that technology and the internet have given them more power and accessibility.

Given that communication is the transmission of ideas and interpretation, and that it is free and available for all, it is both an advantage and a disadvantage at this time. We can have access on ideas that we could interpret and discover ideas that could be beneficial to us, but we can also gather information and data that is not beneficial to us. Most of the time, this wide range of communication can lead to misinterpretation due to incorrect leading and wrong receiver of the message.

And if we're talking about mass media communication or popular communication media like the internet, I'd say communication is similar to an art form. Whose meaning would vary from person to person. Because of the noise or barrier that we call in the communication process, each person may interpret the media differently. It could be that the message is not relatable or is too relatable for a particular person, among other factors.

Communication media is available to all people for free, and people with disabilities can use them as well. This is why we should use it properly, without being too formal, but as a responsible user. We should be aware of its limitations, and we should use it only for good learning and healthy communication, rather than to take advantage of technological advancements in communication media.

Paulo Freire once said, "Human life can only hold meaning through communication." If so, we ought to give our lives meaningful purpose rather than one we would later regret and be unable to value. We have the power to influence, create, and change someone's perspective, therefore we should choose to use this power in positive ways and for the benefit of everyone, not just because these advancements and improvements have made us curious, naive, and greedy of this ability.
